In "Happy Place" von Emily Henry treffen wir auf Harriet und Wyn. Die beiden sind bereits seit dem College zusammen und werden von allen in ihrer Umgebung als absolutes Traumpaar wahrgenommen. Doch hinter der Facade sieht es ganz anders aus. So haben sich Harriet und Wyn bereits vor einem halben Jahr getrennt und es einfach noch keinen Personen in ihrer Umgebung erzählt. Nach außen müssen sie noch immer das Traumpaar spielen, dass ihre Umgebung erwartet und so finden sie sich plötzlich auf einem gemeinsamen Urlaub mit ihren Freunden wieder.   Eine einwöchige Auszeit mit gutem Essen, schönen Erinnerungen, Seeluft und der Hochzeit ihrer besten Freunde steht ihnen bevor – und obendrein müssen sie sich auch noch ein Bett teilen.
Eigentlich sollten Harriet und Wyn ihren Freunden einfach die Wahrheit erzählen und sich vor der komischen Situation bewahren, dass sie so lange das Traumpaar spielen müssen, doch die beiden kriegen es nicht über das Herz. Aus verschiedenen Gründen ist dieser Ausflug in die Hütte der letzte Ausflug, den die Gruppe zusammen unternehmen kann und das frühere Paar will die Freunde nicht enttäuschen. Sie spielen also für eine Woche das glückliche Paar, müssen hierbei aber feststellen, dass dieser Plan gar nicht so einfach ist wie gedacht. 
Emily Henry ist bekannt für ihre wunderbaren RomComs. Aus diesem Grund hat es mich beim Lesen etwas überrascht, dass "Happy Place" gar nicht so eine typische leichte RomCom ist.  Die Autorin fügt echt tiefgründige Gedanken in die Geschichte ein und schafft es so, dass man beim Lesen wirklich über das Geschriebene nachdenkt, aber gleichzeitig auch sehr mit den Charakteren mitfiebert. Die Charaktere sind sehr sympathisch geschrieben - eine Stärke von Emily Henry - und man möchte die Hauptcharaktere, aber auch ihre Freunde sehr gerne während ihrer Woche in der Hütte in Maine begleiten. 
"Happy Place" ist ein überraschend tiefgründiger Roman, den ich sehr gerne gelesen habe und nur weiterempfehlen kann. Diese wundervoll ausgestalteten Charaktere und die tolle Handlung haben wirklich Spaß gemacht.
