Langtext

This book is based on my PhD dissertation. It introduces the reader into the biophysical basis of fluorescence and describes the utilized instrumentation. It focuses to 4 different topics in the field of plant fluorescence: (1) Development and application of a new chlorophyll fluorescence method based on a feedback control technique. (2) Fluorescence imaging based verification that the early symptoms of the tobacco mosaic virus can be recognised by UV excited blue-green fluorescence before visual symptoms appear. (3) Recognition of remote imaging based on the ratio images of the blue- and UV-excited chlorophyll fluorescence as an adequate tool to monitor plant leaves or even whole plant cultivars in a non-invasive way from a remote distance of approximately 0.5 m. (4) Recognition of fluorescence imaging as a suitable tool for characterizing grape fruits.
